Queen of the West

The Queen of the West, Empress of the North, and the Columbia Queen paddlewheel steamboats cruise on America's northwest rivers: the Columbia, the Snake, and the Willimette, cruising through the mighty Columbia River Gorge with its multitude of waterfalls, black basalt cliffs, and lush forests.
The Columbia and Snake Rivers flow through the volcanic rock cliffs of the Cascade Mountains where canyon walls tower more than 2000 feet over the river. This area has been designated as a National Scenic area.and is one of the most beautiful natural treaures in the United States.
The Queen of the West, Empress of the North and the Columbia Queen paddlewheel steamboats leisurely cruise through these vertical cliffs where eagle sightings can occur. During the cruise guests are treated to views of apple and pear orchards, vineyards, and locks and dams on the Columbia, Snake, and Willamette Rivers. The quaint towns, museums and interpretive centers enrich the cruise experience.
These rivers follow the path of Lewis and Clark and there is ample opportunity to learn more about the discovery of this magnificant northwest river area.
The best times to cruise the Northwest Rivers area are the end of April / first part of May or September.
Shore excursions are included in the price of all Northwest River paddle boat / steamboat cruises on the Queen of the West, Empress of the North, and the Columbia Queen.

These tunnels connected Chinese laundries to illegal saloons, bordellos and opium dens. The Pendleton Woolen Mills opened in 1909 to supply Indians with blankets. It is still in operation. The Umatilla, Cayuse and Walla Walla Indians inhabited this area. Cruise guests will enjoy the Tamastslikt Cultural Center with its interesting exhibits and cultural programs.
